#76 A WOMAN’S BRIEFS – TIME (Not) July 21, 2025
I’m writing on Monday but to warn you about tomorrow, Tuesday, July 22, 2025, the day I hope you are reading this.
Don’t be fooled! You may think you’ve got the normal 24 hours today. You may think the lunch date is at noon today, but how can you tell, what with the Universe messing with Earth, robbing earth, in a never-before-like-this manner. You may not have noticed on July 9th of this Year of the Lord when the first robbery occurred, but you might want to wise up about today. You might want to think of belonging to the Milky Way Galaxy where at its center is a massive black hole four times the mass of our pitiful little sun, and I’m just say’n, could be consuming what we on earth today are missing: Time.
Today is the second shortest day in history. The first was last week but we didn’t notice. At least, I didn’t. We expect Earth to give us what it has always provided by its reliable rotation: 24 hours in a day. We are accustomed. We expect it. We hardly notice when it’s slipping away. Like decency. But you need to know that today, this very day, the earth is speeding its rotation (and no one is yet sure why), and it will rob our 24 hours by 1.34 milliseconds. 1.34 milliseconds taken from the day’s 86,400 seconds. By 2029, if this keeps up (it’s happening again on August 5th), it may require removing a second from atomic clocks. That’s never been done before. Wow.
I thought maybe you might like to know that today is significant – in a galactic sort of way.
