#81 PUPPY - HAPPY SEVENTH BIRTHDAY, SCOOTER SUBLIME PINE Monday, August 24, 2026
Happy Seventh Birthday today, Scooter Sublime Pine ,
I’m listening to Chris Norman’s album, “Man with the Wooden Flute,” and writing to you. There couldn’t be better music to make my heart soft.
Happy Birthday, dearest Scooter Sublime. Since you were tiny, we have written 80 blog postings together. I want to thank you for those. You have educated many people. Thank you for sharing my desk.
Thank you for sleeping quietly through the night from the very first night you were with us that November when we brought you home.
Thank you for being loving and cooperative when we had to, you know, have your precious parts parted

We are so grateful for your good health, and that when you didn’t feel well, you didn’t urp on our bed. Thank you.
Thank you for being a great boat dog, for guarding PineAweigh against raccoons and otters and fish swimming too close to the water’s surface, and for braving all the ladders, loving the dingy, and being friendly to people greeting you from the docks (mostly).

Thank you, when we all were in New Mexico, and so sick with Covid, you sympathized. You were kind, and undemanding, and your caring mattered. Thank you.

Thank you for loving snow
Thank you for having some dog friends. It’s not your best trait. We all know that. But there was Tucker, and now Toby, and Lilly.

Thanks for loving car rides with us.
Thank you for your constant curiosity and joy. Garter snakes and bunnies and squirrels and things in shopping bags and new squeaky toys to tear apart, and anyone at our door and new people food.
And for your general attitude of relaxation, for being sometimes a pain in the neck. We humans need to be occasionally bothered. Thank you.
Thank you for rightly asking for forgiveness when you should . . .
Thank you for the beauty of your tender spirit, for cuddling, for those beautiful eyes, and the multitude of facial expressions. For seven years you have (mostly) delighted us. Thank you.
Happy Birthday, Scooter Sublime. What lucky people we are to share life with you.
